Jayme Maleah12/08/2020Excellent teacher and environment to learn Spanish in! I have wanted to learn Spanish for several years and always had a hard time grasping it and staying consistent. I met Andy in Costa Rica and he offered to teach me over Zoom when I got home. He is incredibly patient, fun to talk to, gives clear explanations, and teaches you at your own pace. He creates a relaxed and educational environment that is comfortable for any level of Spanish speaker. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn Spanish in a fun and creative way that you can do in Montezuma, while traveling, or at home!Verified
KAM18/11/2019Learning Spanish with Andy! My husband and I studied Spanish with Andy for one month last winter, in Montezuma. Andy was a fabulous teacher and patient with me as a beginning spanish speaker. He was willing to try a variety of ways to teach concepts, always encouraging me and helping me to improve my understanding and usage of the language. He took classes seriously but there was also plenty of opportunity for laughing and sharing experiences. When we returned to the US, Andy was willingly to continue working with us, using Skype. I am excited to be resuming classes with Andy in Costa Rica again this winter, as well as joining him in conversation with the local Tico community, in order to continue ‘learning by doing’.Verified
mackjann17/11/2019Great way to learn Spanish Andy the owner is a great teacher. I have taken language classes at a university and Spanish lessons from other teachers. By far Andy is the best instructor I have ever had. He is patient with me, he is very encouraging, he is well organized, and he has a wonderful way of explaining the structure of the Spanish language. I took 3 weeks of intensive classes and my ability to communicate in Spanish improved greatly in that short a time. On a recent trip to Mexico City I was able to communicate surprisingly well with the locals. I am looking forward to continuing my Spanish lessons this coming winter when I visit Montezuma again.Verified

Ève-Gabrielle27/10/2019Best environment to learn Spanish!! I had a month of classes with Andy and it was probably the best month of my entire life. I improved sooo much in Spanish during that time, while having the time of my life in a little paradise village named Montezuma. Andy is a really good teacher and he's really there for his students. He has a different vision about education and he thinks that learning a langage comes with learning a culture. We talked about big subjects like climate change, immigration, etc. I really evolved on many ways, not just in Spanish. Muchas gracias Andy!!!

TICO SPANISH programs are designed so you don’t only learn Spanish in a classroom set up, but also practice integrating these new skills into the real word. We also help you to practice and improve in applying your Spanish skills by participating directly with the local culture involving you in different local experiences. This might include activities such as attending a local restaurant and learning how to order meals or meeting the owner, visiting the supermarket to know more about products and pricing, or even just a walk through town greeting and talking to the locals.
Our main goal is not only for you to learn and improve your Spanish, but also, to be immersed in the local culture and to engage with the local community.
